Marriott: Senior Discount Rate

Guests aged 62 and over can book Marriott's senior discount rate at participating hotels, for up to two rooms a night.

Marriott runs a Senior Discount Program for guests aged 62 and over, one of the lowest age thresholds among the big hotel groups. The rate is offered at participating locations and can cover up to two rooms per night, as long as the rooms are booked in the name of the guest who qualifies. Marriott does not publish a fixed percentage for the programme, so the saving changes from hotel to hotel and from night to night. The honest way to judge it is to price the same room both ways before you book.

How to claim it

  1. Search for your hotel and dates on Marriott’s site or app, and choose the senior rate where it is offered.
  2. Compare the senior price against the standard price for the same room before you confirm.
  3. Bring valid proof of age, since the primary guest must show it at check in.

You do not need an AARP membership to use this rate, which sets it apart from some hotel offers that are really membership rates in disguise. The rate is subject to availability, and not every Marriott property takes part, so a hotel that shows no senior rate is not making a mistake.

The limit of two rooms matters on family trips: both rooms must be booked in the name of the guest who qualifies. If the qualifying guest is not travelling, the rate does not transfer to someone younger. Taxes and any resort charges still apply on top of the room rate as usual.

Practical tip: check the senior rate even on short stays, and check it again a few days before you travel, since rates move and a lower senior price can appear after you first book.
