BC Parks: Senior Camping Discount (65+)

BC residents aged 65 and up pay half the peak season base camping fee at BC Parks frontcountry campgrounds during the off season.

BC Parks runs the provincial park campgrounds that British Columbians know and love, and its published senior discount gives BC residents aged 65 and up a real break on camping fees during the quieter part of the year. The senior rate is half the peak summer season base camping fee, or the winter rate if that happens to be lower. For anyone who enjoys a calm campground and crisp autumn air, the off season window is the sweet spot of the camping year.

How to claim it

  1. Confirm that you are a BC resident aged 65 or up, and bring ID that shows both your age and your BC residence.
  2. Choose a frontcountry campground and travel dates inside the off season window, which runs from the day after Labour Day through June 14, inclusive.
  3. Book a reservation or pick a first come, first served site, and ask for the BC Parks senior rate when you reserve or when you arrive.

The discount applies at frontcountry campgrounds only, and group campsites sit outside it. The party rules matter as much as the price: every other adult in your party must be a senior or the spouse of a senior, and a party can include up to 8 people, with a maximum of 4 adults. An extra vehicle is charged at half the discounted fee, to a maximum of $12 per night. The senior rate covers the base camping fee only, so firewood, electrical hook ups, other amenity fees, and reservation transaction fees are all charged in full.

Practical tip: a September or early October trip often brings mild weather, open trails, and none of the summer crowds, and the senior rate runs through that whole stretch.
